Future Expansion Plan

Globally, nuclear energy is well understood as a reliable and environment friendly source of energy. Besides above attributes, nuclear energy is vital for increasing security of energy supply in Pakistan by reducing energy import dependence. PAEC is committed to contribute in achieving desired security and reliability of the country’s energy supply system. In this regard, the commission is pursuing the implementation of a nuclear power plan, devised in the country’s Energy Security Plan-2005. According to this plan, nuclear power capacity was assessed to be 8,800 MWe by 2030 (as shown below) which could reach to 40,000 MWe by 2050
